Brief Description
The post holder will be trained to become fully competent in the inspection, servicing and maintenance of Scottish Ambulance Service vehicles and equipment in accordance with DVSA guidelines and Scottish Ambulance Service procedures.
Vacancy Detail
To service and maintain a mixed fleet of Scottish Ambulance service vehicles as directed by the Fleet Maintenance Manager of Chargehand and in accordance with the manufacturers and/or Scottish Ambulance Service schedules. There is a responsibility for the post holder to demonstrate a commitment to quality service delivery through continuous improvement for the benefit of the Service and the Organisation. Provides a specialist service that services and repairs a wide range of mixed diverse vehicle fleet.
The overriding technical factor associated with the job is that a vehicle can have a myriad of complications associated with a repair, the apprentice’s primary role is learn and follow direction to ensure that these defects are diagnosed correctly and a repair is effected a
hundred percent as there is no margin for error in providing fit for use front line patient carrying vehicles.
Qualifications Required
- Academic achievement to Scottish National Level 4 or 5, Standard
Grades or equivalent transferable experience and skills.
Skills Required
- Ability to use hand tools in a safe manner.
- Basic understanding of mechanical components.
- A reasonable level of oral and written communication.
- Effective interpersonal skills, including active listening and interpreting
instruction.
- Good concentration and analytical skills. Ability to understand, recall
and record relevant information.
- Ability to work in a time sensitive environment to the highest quality
with competing and changing priorities.
- Ability to follow procedure and take instruction from others.
- A reasonable level of fitness to meet the physical nature of the role.
