Fleet-Serv are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Heavy Vehicle Apprentice to join our growing workshop team in Hatfield. This is a fantastic opportunity to start a career in the commercial vehicle industry, gaining hands-on experience while working towards a recognised qualification in heavy vehicle maintenance and repair

Vacancy Detail

As a Heavy Vehicle Apprentice, you will support the day-to-day running of a busy workshop, learning practical skills in the servicing, repair, diagnostics, and maintenance of heavy vehicles such as trucks, buses, trailers, and commercial fleet vehicles. You will work alongside experienced technicians who will guide and support you throughout your apprenticeship, helping you develop the knowledge and confidence needed to become a qualified heavy vehicle technician

Key Responsibilities
• Assisting with routine servicing and maintenance of heavy vehicles and trailers
• Supporting technicians with diagnostics, repairs, and fault finding
• Carrying out basic checks including oil, tyre, brake, steering, suspension, and fluid inspections
• Learning to use workshop tools, lifting equipment, and diagnostic systems safely and effectively
• Maintaining a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment
• Assisting with vehicle inspections, MOT preparations, and quality checks
• Developing knowledge of heavy vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, braking systems, and electrical components
• Following health and safety procedures and industry regulations at all times

Qualifications Required

• No previous automotive qualifications are required
• You will ideally have GCSE 9-4 (A* - C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths, we will support you to help develop your knowledge further if required
• Predicted GCSE grades are acceptable - please note the apprenticeship offer is subject to final GCSE results

• No prior experience required – full training will be provided
