Brief Description

Remit are recruiting on behalf of Trossachs Motor Engineers Ltd who are searching for talented people to join their team as Light Vehicle Service Technician Apprentice.

Vacancy Detail

As a light Vehicle Service Technician, you will work under the supervision of qualified technicians to gain hands-on experience in diagnosing, servicing, and repairing cars and light commercial vehicles. This role provides structured on-the-job Training alongside formal study, allowing you to develop the technical knowledge, practical skills, and workplace experience needed to become a qualified light vehicle mechanic

TYPICAL DAY
• Assist in carrying out routine servicing and maintenance on a wide range of light vehicles.
• Learn to diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and electronic faults using specialist tools and equipment.
• Support senior technicians in inspecting vehicles to ensure they meet road safety and environmental requirements
• Develop knowledge of vehicle systems, including engines, transmissions, suspension, brakes, and steering.
• Maintain accurate records of work completed in line with workplace procedures.
• Follow health, safety, and environmental regulations at all times.
• Keep the workshop clean, organised, and safe.
Training is not all hands-on; we believe that learning to use a computer and understanding the theory behind the role is as important as using a spanner.

Skills Required

The successful applicant will be confident, self-motivated, and keen to work as part of a team. Having an interest in working in the automotive and engineering industries, with an inquisitive nature and a desire to fix things, is just as important as academic achievements.

Must have 5 qualifications at National 5 level, these must include Maths, English, and a Science. Predicted grades will be taken into consideration.

On-the-job training will be carried out in the employer’s workshop alongside your workplace mentor.
Off-the-job training will typically be a one-week block release at college.

You will build portfolios to record training, experience, and skills gained throughout your apprenticeship. You will be expected to self-study, and with the combination of on-the-job and off-the-job training, you will be working towards the Modern Apprenticeship Framework standards for Light Vehicle Maintenance & Repair, including Core Skills.
