As a Vehicle Paint Technician Apprentice, you'll learn how to prepare and apply paint finishes to vehicles that have been repaired by body technicians. The role involves recognizing a variety of vehicle materials and understanding the preparation techniques required for high-quality finishes.
TYPICAL DAY
• Preparing vehicles to be painted after the damage has occurred or panels have been replaced, this can include repairing minor scratches to match the rest of the vehicle.
• Ensuring all parts are stripped from the vehicle for it to be painted.
• Sanding down relevant areas and adjoining areas for blending
• Masking out areas that will need to be treated.
• Etching and priming the area to be treated
• Selecting, mixing, and matching colour
