Brief Description

This apprenticeship is the level 3 Heavy Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician standard programme with S&P Garages Ltd - Daimler Lincoln LN2 4JY. As an HGV technician apprentice, you will learn how to maintain and repair Mercedes-Benz trucks to the manufacturer's and DSVA standards.

Following the closure of H&L Garages, the Mercedes-Benz commercial dealer in Lincoln, former H&L employee Peter Frohmaier and his wife Sarah saw an opportunity and decided start a new business maintaining and servicing Mercedes-Benz commercial vehicles. The new business, S&P Garages Ltd., opened its doors on 3 January 2012, just one month after H&L ceased trading. S&P Garages is situated on the old H&L site on Wrightsway, off Outer Circle Road, in Lincoln. As soon as they started trading requests flooded in and the business soon expanded to take care of non-commercial and other makes of vehicle.

The core of the S&P Garages' business is to maintain, service and MOT customers' vehicles. The business has the ability to deal with all types of vehicle, big or small. Basically if it's got four wheels or more S&P Garages can fix it!

Training delivery.
In this programme, all aspects of heavy vehicle technology are embedded in this dedicated programme and involves a mix of academic learning and on-the-job training.
• Practical learning in the workplace, shadowing your mentor and carrying out the work while being supervised.
• Online studies, completing workbooks and job cards, attending online sessions and virtual classes with your Development Coach, all done during your working day.
• Attending block release to the Daimler/Remit Training Academy in Coventry, CV2 2TA every 2 months. All costs of your hotel food and accommodation plus all travel arrangements are covered by the S&P Garages Ltd

Qualifications Required

• No previous automotive qualifications are required.
• GCSE 9 - 4 (A* - C) or Function Skills Level 2 in Maths and English.
• Predicted GCSE grades are acceptable - please note the apprenticeship offer is subject to final GCSE results.
