Full description of roles and responsibilities:
• Service, repair and maintain a varied assortment of vehicles and machinery from JCB tele handlers to small vans.
• Required to work on small plant like hydraulic beakers, Stihl saws and jet washers.
• Fabrication and welding work using welding, grinding and heating equipment.
• Supporting diagnosis and repair of mechanical faults
• Using hand and power tools safely
• Helping to disassemble and reassemble machinery components
• Maintain the working area clean, tidy and safe to work in for yourself and others.
• Assisting in filling out maintence records and service logs
Working week – 40 hours per week
Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 4pm inclsuvie fo a hoalf hour unoaid rest break each day

Qualifications Required

GCSE grade C/4 and above.

Skills Required

Mechanical Aptitude
• Basic understanding of how engines, hydraulics and mechanical systems work
• Interest in fixing and maintaining HGV’s and Plant Machinery
• Understanding of mechanical drawings and manuals
• Familiarity with tools and workshop equipment (wrenches, drills, grinders etc)
Problem solving skills
• Ability to diagnose ualts and think logically to find effective solutions
Manual dexterity
• Good hand eye coordination for handling tools and small parts
Health and safety awareness
• Understanding the importance of safe working practices in workshops and construction sites

Future Prospects

If time at Swift has been successful, after the course they will be offered a permanent plant fitter position within the business. Potentially starting as Junior after the course and then scope for promotions after more experience has been gained.
