Brief Description
This apprenticeship is the level 3 Light Vehicle Technician Apprenticeship, programme with CAT UK in Corby, NN17 5AF. As an apprentice, you will learn how to maintain and repair light vehicles such as cars and vans to the manufacturer and DSVA standard.

RMS are working with an outstanding automotive client; CAT UK Services Ltd who are looking for an Autocare mechanic apprentice to join their existing team.

As an Autocare Apprentice, you will carry out a range of services and repairs to cars and light goods vehicles. Throughout the duration of the apprenticeship, you will gain an excellent knowledge of technical, retail and customer service skills.
What will you be doing?
You will work alongside a qualified technician/mentor to learn the following skills and knowledge:
• To diagnose faults in vehicles and to carry out repairs to the manufacturers standards effectively and to ensure work is completed within standard operational timeframes.
• To carry out servicing on a variety of vehicle models and light commercial vehicles.
• Repair or replace worn or faulty parts by removing assemblies.
• Dismantle and check parts, referring to manuals if necessary.
• Reassemble, test, clean and adjust repaired or replaced parts or assemblies.
• Test and repair electric systems.
• To maintain the upkeep of all Workshop tools and equipment.
• To ensure health & safety procedures are followed at all times.
• Undertake other duties as directed commensurate with the level of the job function.
How the training is delivered:
• Practical hands on learning in the workplace, shadowing your mentor and carrying out the work while being supervised.
• Online self directed study, completing workbooks and job cards, attending online sessions and virtual classes with your Development Coach, all done during your working day.
• Attending block release to the Remit Academy in Derby, DE24 8NB every 2 months. All costs of hotel food and accommodation plus all travel arrangements are covered by the employer.
Clear career progression:
• Progression onto the level 3 Motor Vehicle Service & Maintenance Technician (light vehicle) is available upon achievement of the level 2 Autocare apprenticeship.
Hours:
• 2 x shift rotations earlies 6am-2pm and lates 2pm - 10pm.
Wages:
• The starting wage is the apprentice minimum for the first 12 months, then increases to either the National Minimum or Living wage for your age group.
Qualifications Required
No previous automotive qualifications are required however you must have GCSE 9-4 (A*- C) or functional skills Level 2 in English and Maths.
Predicted grades are acceptable, although apprenticeship offers will be dependent on final exam results.
