Brief Description

Remit are recruiting on behalf of UK Select ARC Ltd to find an enthusiastic individual to join their skilled team as a Body Repair Technician in Ross-on-Wye, HR9 7QG

Vacancy Detail

Body Repair Technicians (also known as Panel beaters) repair and replace vehicle bodywork which has either been damaged in a collision or deliberately damaged.

As an apprentice you will learn how to repair, and replace, damaged bodywork using specialist techniques with traditional tools and the latest equipment.
• Assessing a vehicle to establish the extent of damage
• Removing damaged panels
• Refitting new/repaired panels
• Repairing damaged bodywork using traditional dolly and hammer or more modern techniques
• Repairing small dents, holes or corroded areas using a compound filler

A certain amount of administration and customer interaction is also required:
• Keeping a record of work carried out and time taken
• Liaising with the customer or insurance company
• Providing quotations and estimations

As part of the service a bodyshop offers, you may also carry out valeting, to ensure the vehicles look as good as new.
• Wash down the outside of the car to remove dirt and mud
• Polish the windows, wheels, door handles and mirrors

Whilst the vast majority of work is accident-related, panel beaters also carry out cosmetic work on behalf of owners keen to give their beloved cars the motoring equivalent of a face lift!

Qualifications Required

• You must have GCSE 9-4 (A* - C) or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths and we will support you to help develop your knowledge further.
• Predicated grades are acceptable

Skills Required

The job involves numerous activities and panel beaters will need to be comfortable with a wide range of vehicles. As a panel beater, you will often be working as part of a team, so good communication and being able to follow instructions would be good skills to have

Future Prospects

As an apprentice, you will be a full-time employee from the very beginning and while training you’ll be earning your place as an integral part of the team.
Once you have achieved your qualification, you will have further opportunities to progress to positions such as Supervisor or Manager.
