Brief Description
Remit are recruiting on behalf of New Forest Sprays who are recruiting for a Apprentice Vehicle Panel or Vehicle Paint technician to join their expanding team.
Vacancy Detail
This is an exciting opportunity to join New Forest Sprays evergrowing business in 2 different specialisms.
As a Body Repair apprentice, you will learn how to repair, and sometimes replace, damaged bodywork using specialist techniques with traditional tools and the latest equipment.
Assessing a vehicle to establish the extent of damage
Based on the initial assessment, deciding whether to repair or replace bodywork
Removing damaged panels
Refitting new/repaired panels
Repairing damaged bodywork using traditional dolly and hammer or more modern techniques
Repairing small dents, holes or corroded areas using a compound filler
As a Paint apprentice, you will be trained to complete every aspect of painting a vehicle from paint preparation, through to painting and polishing.
Preparing paint spraying equipment
Preparing the bodywork of the vehicle
Mix paint by eye or using computer technology to ensure the best colour match
Applying several coats to the car, including primers, colours and protective finishes
Solving paint application problems; defects, cause and cures
Maintaining and cleaning equipment
Storing paints in the correct conditions
As part of all 3 roles, a certain amount of administration and customer interaction is also required:
Keeping a record of work carried out and time taken
Liaising with the customer or insurance company
Providing quotations and estimations
As part of the service a bodyshop offers, you may also carry out valeting, to ensure the vehicles look as good as new.
Wash down the outside of the car to remove dirt and mud
Polish the windows, wheels, door handles and mirrors

Qualifications Required
A good level of English, Maths and ICT would be advantageous.
