Brief Description : Remit are recruiting on behalf of The Fox Inn, Steventon near Abingdon, for someone keen to develop a career as a chef. The successful candidate will undertake a 13 month Hospitality apprenticeship gaining a nationally recognised Level 2 qualification
Qualifications Required : GCSE Grades A - C English and Maths (4-9) preferred but others will be considered.
Vacancy Detail : The Fox Inn is an independently owned gastro pub serving great food at lunch and dinner. They are looking for someone interested in building a career in the catering / hospitality sector and wanting to learn to become a chef.
The successful candidate will become a key player in this busy kitchen by:
- helping prepare and weigh ingredients
- assisting with cooking, following recipes
- using machinery and equipment
- ensuring that food is stored correctly and safely
- ensuring that the area is kept clean and tidy in line with health and safety and food regulations
Positions Available : 2
Working Week : 40 hours pw; 5 day rota out of 7 including weekends and bank holidays
Salary : £200.00 Per Week

Personal Qualities : You'll have
- some experience of cooking meals from scratch
- a passion for getting in to the hospitality industry
- a keen eye for presentation and attention for detail
- great timekeeping and a willingness to be part of a team in order to get things done
Skills Required : Basic cooking skills and an interest in developing these
Good level of numeracy and literacy
Future Prospects : to become part of the team
Training to be Provided : Depending on your role within the department, you may specialise in a particular area, but the skills you learn on this apprenticeship will allow you to work across all different areas which you may be required to support during busy periods. You will develop your knowledge of the industry and gain the skills that will ensure your customers feel well looked after and have a great experience. You will have excellent communication skills and will learn techniques on how to deal with a variety of people in a professional, polite and friendly manner. Following completion of this apprenticeship there may be opportunities for career progression and further study at a higher level. As a result, you will receive the following qualification: Functional Skills in English & maths Level 1 and upskill to Level 2
Other Information : You should expect to evenings, weekends and Bank Holidays.
Chefs whites and shoes will be provided.
Things to consider : This role will be physically demanding particularly on weekends and Bank Holidays. You should expect to be on your feet for the whole shift.
