Brief Description

Remit are recruiting on behalf of JM Wadey who are experts in Citroen, Peugeot and Toyota and have a fantastic opportunity for an enthusiastic individual to kick start their career and join their skilled team training as a Body Repair Technician.

Vacancy Detail

As an apprentice you will learn how to repair, and sometimes replace, damaged bodywork using specialist techniques with traditional tools and the latest equipment.
? Assessing a vehicle to establish the extent of damage
? Based on the initial assessment, deciding whether to repair or replace bodywork
? Removing damaged panels
? Refitting new/repaired panels
? Repairing damaged bodywork using traditional dolly and hammer or more modern techniques
? Repairing small dents, holes or corroded areas using a compound filler

A certain amount of administration and customer interaction is also required:
? Keeping a record of work carried out and time taken
? Liaising with the customer or insurance company
? Providing quotations and estimations

As part of the service a bodyshop offers, you may also carry out valeting, to ensure the vehicles look as good as new.
? Wash down the outside of the car to remove dirt and mud
? Polish the windows, wheels, door handles and mirrors

Whilst the vast majority of work is accident-related, body repair technicians also carry out cosmetic work on behalf of owners keen to give their beloved cars the motoring equivalent of a face lift!

INDAUTO

Qualifications Required

No previous automotive qualifications are required, and we will support and help develop your English, Maths and ICT.

Personal Qualities

Commitment and enthusiasm are a must and a passion for motor vehicles and physical work would be an advantage.

Skills Required

The job involves numerous activities and you will need to be comfortable with a wide range of vehicles. In this role, you will often be working as part of a team, so good communication and being able to follow instructions would be good skills to have.

Future Prospects

On successful completion of your apprenticeship you will receive a NVQ Level 2 Certificate along with functional skills in Maths, English and ICT (where required). You will be a fully qualified Vehicle Body Repair Technician with the skills to continue your career in the industry.

There are over 2.5 million motor vehicles on Britain's roads and every year, tens of thousands of these vehicles will become involved in an accident and will often involve repairing the bodywork of the car, which usually bears the brunt of any impact. This is where the bodyshop industry becomes relevant.
