Brief Description : As IT technical support you will be working with computers and supporting the users. You will also get involved in the maintenance and repair of the companies hardware and equipment.
Qualifications Required : You are required to have GCSE A-C grades or equivalent in English and maths to apply for this type of apprenticeship. If you do not have these grades but have completed numeracy and literacy Key Skills/Functional Skills at level two you may also apply for these apprenticeships

As IT Technical Support you may be required to work in a variety of different ways including; on site where you will be working within the business, directly with staff members. You could also be working remotely, where you could be staffing an IT help desk, answering calls and emails.
This would require you to resolve problems by guiding clients through programmes or you may be required to access their computers remotely and resolve the problem for them.
You could be working as part of a team within a company, or may be providing support to external business clients.
Responsibilities may vary depending on the employer but duties usually include:
Work with clients to understand details of faults
Resolving faults and explaining to the client the work you have carried out
Fixing and maintaining equipment, such as printers, laptops, scanners and PCs
Assisting with system upgrades and setting up new devices
Recording problems within CRM systems so that task histories can be reviewed
Provide excellent customer service
Identify the need for system and equipment updates.
Training to be provided
Advanced standard Infrastructure Technician:
This apprenticeship is recognised for entry onto the register of IT technicians confirming SFIA level 3 professional competence and those completing the apprenticeship are eligible to apply for registration
This programme usually takes one year to gain an Advanced Apprenticeship at Level 3, this is equivalent to two A levels. To do this you will possibly have to divide your time between your place of work and the IT Academy. The time you spend at work will be where you get to learn practical skills from seeing the real working environment. You will shadow qualified members of staff so that you are able to learn first-hand how to go about the job.

Training to be Provided : The Infrastructure Technician Apprenticeship will enable you to gain the relevant knowledge, skills and behaviours to provide first or second line support to internal and external customers and stakeholders to help them be productive when using technology. By the end of the programme, you will be able to set people up on their IT systems and provide support when needed, rectifying issues to maintain colleagues’ and the organisation’s productivity. Job roles include helpdesk technician, first or second line IT support roles or Network support roles. As a result, you will receive the following qualification: Infrastructure Technician (Standard) Level 3 Functional Skills in English and maths (if required)MTA Network Fundamentals/CompTIA A+/ CompTIA Network+ professional qualification (Choose one option)
